Q. What does my computer need to run Beamz?
A Pentium 4 processor.
A PC running windows XP with Service Pack 2 and .Net 2.0 or Windows Vista.
A minimum of 512 MB of system memory (one GB or greater preferred).
Four GB of free hard disk space.
One free USB port. The Beamz controller will not function correctly if connected to a USB hub.
A monitor with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels or better.
A sound card and a speaker system or headphones.
Note: If you own an Intel-based Macintosh with a discrete video card (such as a MacBook Pro or a Mac Pro, but not an iMac or iBook or MacBook), you can run the Beamz using virtualization software such as Bootstrap or VMware Fusion.
Q. Is Beamz a Theremin?
No – the Theremin uses an Electromagnetic field to produce a monophonic (single note) tone. The Beamz is actually a Laser-Powered Controller, which drives the software Engine which lives in your computer. It is Multi-timbral (many different sounds) and Polyphonic (many different notes).
Q. Are the lasers harmful?
The six laser beams are less powerful than those used at shopping checkout counters, and 5 times less powerful than standard office laser pointers. However we strongly recommend that you do not stick your head between them or stare directly into the lights for any period of time. Casual glances into the lights will do no harm. The lasers are completely harmless to the touch, and the wearing of white gloves is entirely optional!
Q. When will my Beamz arrive?
Legally we are obliged to deliver your goods within 28 days of receipt of funds – however we aim to get the Beamz to you within 5 working days, and in many cases, sooner.
Q. Can I buy Beamz more cheaply on Ebay?
Unfortunately, there’s always a chance that a few units will find their way onto Ebay, especially in the USA, They might look like bargains, but bear in mind that you may have to pay import duty, VAT and shipping, and you won’t know where they’ve been! UBeamz is the only official supplier in the UK with a formal licence from the manufacturers themselves – Beamz - in the USA.

Q. Beamz comes packaged with at least 30 songs – can I buy more?
Yes - you can purchase, Beamz Hits and Beamz Covers online from www.thebeamz.com. This library is constantly expanding, and songs arrive as a quick download onto your computer. Plus NEW Beamz Studio software will allow you to import your own sounds and songs into the system.
